Australasian Golden Scalpel Games® ASSA Edition
The inaugural Australasian Golden Scalpel Games® – Australasian Students’ Surgical Association (ASSA) Edition is an educational team-based competition which showcases the skills of aspiring young surgeons from medical schools across Australia and New Zealand.
There are complex logistics involved in running the Australasian Golden Scalpel Games® – ASSA Edition and without our fantastic volunteers, who will spend the day judging, timekeeping, scoring, re-stocking stations and cleaning equipment, this day would not be possible. Special thanks must go to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the HETI Clinical Surgical Training Council – Trainee Subcommittee for their dedication and support, without which this day would not be possible.
The Australasian Golden Scalpel Games – ASSA Edition has the full support of the HETI Clinical Surgical Training Council (CSTC), the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Australasian Students’ Surgical Association who are working together to deliver this important education and training event.
Australasian Students’ Surgical Conference
The Australasian Students’ Surgical Conference (ASSC) is the ASSA’s peak event that forms the ideal opportunity for these surgically orientated students to meet like-minded individuals and share their passion for surgical excellence, research and innovation.
This promotion of an interest in surgery is not only important for encouraging students to pursue surgical careers, but also ensures that essential surgical knowledge and skills are developed in all medical students no matter their career directions.
Past conferences have utilised keynote speakers, research and skills workshops to impart information and resources to every attendee.
ASSA Leadership Day
Leadership day aims to develop representatives from local surgical associations so they can better serve their student population
